INOV.AM around the world | Highlights from the third quarter of 2025

Between July and September 2025, the INOV.AM Agenda was present at several national and international events, continuing to promote innovation in Additive Manufacturing. Through the presentation of scientific results, participation in conferences, and technological demonstrations, the INOV.AM Agenda continues to assert itself as a driver of innovation and competitiveness for national industry.

International presence

INOV.AM was actively represented at several international events, with a highlight on the participation of partners in scientific conferences and strategic events that contributed to the international projection of the INOV.AM Agenda.

Internationalization is one of the pillars of the INOV.AM Agenda, essential for building strategic bridges, fostering innovation, and positioning Portugal as a reference in Additive Manufacturing.

ISBPS 2025 – 3rd International Summit on Biopolymers and Polymer Science

Frankfurt, Germany (July 21 and 22)
As part of WP1, partner PIEP presented the study “Assessing the Green Shift: Comparing Conventional and Biopolymer Packaging,” highlighting the role of biopolymers in the transition to more sustainable packaging solutions.

SIM-AM 2025 – Fifth International Conference on Simulation for Additive Manufacturing

Pavia, Italy (September 9-11)
The University of Coimbra partner participated, within the scope of WP9, in the 5th International Conference on Simulation for Additive Manufacturing, where it presented the paper “From Computed Tomography to Finite Element Analysis: Mapping Porosity in Metal Additive Manufacturing,” as part of the session dedicated to Multi-Scale Modeling of Additively Manufactured Materials to Link Material Processing and Mechanical Responses. The event brought together around 250 experts in computational modeling, multi-physics simulation, and design optimization for AM, from both academia and industry.

LCM 2025 – 12th International Conference on Life Cycle Management

Palermo, Italy (September 9-12)
PIEP partner attended the 12th International Conference on Life Cycle Management, with an oral presentation and a poster entitled “Sustainability and Performance through Life Cycle Innovation,” under WP7. The work highlighted the potential of Additive Manufacturing to reduce environmental impacts, strengthen the resilience of supply chains, and develop high-performance components for the two-wheel sector. The event emphasized the importance of integrating the life cycle perspective from the early stages of product and process development, enabling more sustainable and competitive decisions in the industrial context.

EUROPM 2025 – European Powder Metallurgy Association

Glasgow, Scotland (September 15)
The University of Coimbra represented the INOV.AM Agenda at the European Powder Metallurgy Association, one of the world’s most prestigious events in powder metallurgy. Within the scope of WP9, the results of PPS2.9 were presented, focusing on Metamaterials and Additive Manufacturing. The presentation entitled “Metamaterials Manufactured with Metal Additive Manufacturing” highlighted advances in the design and experimental testing of mechanical metamaterial structures.

Expo 2025 Osaka

Japan (September 1 to 3)
Agenda INOV.AM was part of the national representation at Expo Osaka 2025, one of the most important international events dedicated to science, technology, and innovation. Participation was promoted by AIDA CCI – Aveiro District Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a partner of Agenda, in the Portugal Pavilion – Ocean Room, a space dedicated to promoting innovation, creativity, and national talent.

During the event, two demonstrators produced by Additive Manufacturing were presented: a glass piece (WP18) and a cork piece (WP20), concrete examples of Agenda INOV.AM’s
capacity for innovation to shape the industrial production of the future — more efficient, personalized, and sustainable.

This presence is part of the Agenda’s internationalization strategy, contributing to the global projection of the solutions developed and reinforcing the commitment to boost the competitiveness and innovation of the national Additive Manufacturing industry.

National presence

At the national level, the INOV.AM Agenda continued to promote the sharing of technical and strategic knowledge among its partners and the industrial ecosystem.

Webinar “The Importance of Rheology in Additive Manufacturing”

(July 15)
A technical session was held dedicated to the fundamental role of rheology in optimizing Additive Manufacturing processes, reinforcing the role of materials science in the development of innovative solutions.

Innovate & Entrepreneurship Event

School of Engineering, University of Minho (September 17)
Several developments and prototypes from the research centers of the University of Minho, partner of the Agenda, were presented within the scope of the Work Packages in which they participate. This participation demonstrated the impact of applied research in the industrial sector.

Workshop “Strategies for the Internationalization of the National Additive Manufacturing Industry”

AIDA CCI (September 24)
Partner AIDA CCI – Aveiro District Chamber of Commerce and Industry promoted a participatory workshop within the scope of the INOV.AM Agenda, bringing together partners and entities from the consortium with the aim of reflecting on ways to internationalize the national Additive Manufacturing industry. In an environment of sharing, immersion, and creativity, participants outlined strategic paths for bringing Portuguese solutions to the markets of Spain, Germany, and the United States.

This meeting highlighted the importance of collaboration between companies and scientific institutions, which together contributed to the formulation of innovative proposals aimed at strengthening the international presence of products, processes, and services developed under INOV.AM, as well as the Portuguese companies that are part of this value chain.

The session was actively attended by 11 partner entities of the consortium (CODI, ESI Robotics, Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, Gameiros, Periplast, Sival, University of Coimbra, University of Minho, Vasco Fonseca Lda, Void Software, S.A., and TecMinho).

These initiatives reflect the dynamism and commitment of Agenda INOV.AM and its partners in promoting Additive Manufacturing as a driver of transformation in Portuguese industry. Through collaboration between research centers, companies, and institutions, INOV.AM continues to build a more sustainable, competitive, and technologically advanced future.
