Agenda INOV.AM brings research in Advanced Materials and Additive Manufacturing to the international scientific community

Between May and July, partners of the INOV.AM Agenda participated in international conferences and scientific publications dedicated to sustainability, advanced materials, additive manufacturing, and their industrial applications.

Between June 7th and 11th, 2026, within the framework of the SCORAI Brazil Conference 2026, held in São Paulo, Brazil, the PIEP partner presented the paper “Towards an Improved Socio-Environmental Performance in the Portuguese INOV.AM Agenda,” as part of WP23. The work focused on monitoring the consortium’s environmental and social performance through sustainability indicators, contributing to supporting strategic decision-making and promoting a more sustainable transition.

From July 1st to 3rd, 2026, the DONE Lab partner at the University of Minho participated in AuxDefense – 5th World Conference on Advanced Materials for Defense, held in Madeira, Portugal, where it presented the paper “Using Computational Design and Additive Manufacturing to Improve an Aerospace Structural Bracket“, developed within the scope of WP40. The study demonstrated the optimization of a metallic component for the aerospace industry through the combination of advanced computational methods and additive manufacturing, aiming to reduce mass and improve the structural performance of conventional components, highlighting the contribution of Additive Manufacturing to aerospace applications.

Simultaneously, the DONE Lab at the University of Minho published, in the scientific journal Progress in Additive Manufacturing Journal, the article “Generative Design for Additive Manufacturing of Non-Conventional Moulding Tools“, developed within the scope of WP4. This work presents the development of a Mold5G through the combination of advanced computational methods (generative design) and additive manufacturing, with the aim of reducing mass and improving the structural performance of conventional solutions.

Participation in these conferences and the publication of this scientific work demonstrate the contribution of the INOV.AM Agenda to the advancement of research in strategic areas such as sustainability, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing. These initiatives also reinforce the consortium’s commitment to promoting innovation, knowledge transfer, and strengthening the competitiveness of national industry.
